| History and Background |
Fawzia Sultan International School was founded in 1993 by a philanthropic
initiative of Mr. Fawzi Al-Saleh as a daytime, non-profit, American curriculum school
serving the needs of children experiencing mild to moderate learning disabilities.
In honoring the memory of his late wife, Ms. Fawzia Hamad Sultan Alessa, God Rest Her Soul, the founder of Al-Bayan
Bilingual School and an avid worker towards increasing the educational opportunities
for all children in Kuwait, and who has believed that every child deserved a chance to
realize his learning potential, FSIS was established as the first school of its kind in
the Middle East that recognized the problems of children who were intelligent and motivated
but did not achieve academically and aimed to create an educational environment which serves
their needs through an individual educational program designed to maximize their learning potential.
